Infrared radiation can be subdivided into 3 different kinds:

• IR-A: Shortwave radiation;
• IR-B: Medium wave radiation;
• IR-C: Longwave radiation.

The radiation used in Health-wave Infrared saunas is longwave radiation (IR-C). As you can see in this chart, the long-wave radiation on the epidermis and is therefore not harmful to your health.

Infrared radiation is harmless. It is not hazardous such as radioactivity or UV-B which causes sunburn. Infrared radiation is a beneficial, electromagnetic radiation that has been used in the health care industry for decades.

To ensure that your body benefits fully from an IR-session it is recommended to remain seated and relaxed. This way your body can fully enjoy the benefits of infrared radiation.

If you sense a cold or the flu coming on you can reinforce your immune system by regularly using your infrared cabin. This will stop or delay the process of getting the flu or catching a cold.

If you are unwell, if you are showing any medical symptoms or if you are on any kind of medication you must always consult your physician before using the infrared cabin.

In case of normal use of the infrared sauna there are usually no restrictions for healthy people.

In an IR-heat cabin only 20% of the radiation heat is used to increase the air temperature – the other 80% goes directly to the body. This provides the user of an IR-heat cabin with more intense and more effective heat to increase the body temperature.

The skin absorbs a great deal of heat coming from the infrared heaters. The body can only shed excess heat by extreme sweating. Sweating causes the blood vessels to widen which increases the supply of blood with high oxygen levels to the skin.

This has two important results:
1. toxins are transported from the lymph to the perspiratory glands,
2. skin cells are supplied with a higher level of oxygen and the body excretes a certain amount of toxins.

Infrared radiation not only stimulates the process of sweating but also affects more blood cells which has a soothing effect.
