Red Cedar Wood

The wood used for the interior and the exterior of the sauna is Western Red Cedar. Western Red Cedar is commonly used to build infrared saunas for the following reasons:

  1. Red Cedar is a soft timber. As opposed to hard timber it will not split or crack when the sauna is warming up or cooling down.
  2. Red Cedar contains aromatic oils that show healing and purifying qualities when using the sauna. Red Cedar also stimulates the body to excrete excess fluid.
  3. Cedar oil makes Red Cedar naturally resistant to decay and mould. This is a very important feature because in saunas moisture, heat and the human body come together which is the ideal environment for bacteria to develop and grow.
  4. The use of Red Cedar makes each sauna cabin unique because it varies in colour from light honey to dark walnut.
  5. Scratches on and small damage to the Red Cedar wood inside the sauna cabin can easily be repaired by using fine sandpaper.
